Created in 1979 under the name of ‘Juin Musical’ by a passionate harpsichord maker, Jacques Brault, this chamber music festival has since welcomed the best soloists and musical groups to Mortagne-au-Perche and other towns in the region, including Sainte-Céronne, Tourouvre-au-Perche, La Mesnière, La Perrière and Pervenchères.
Now known as ‘Les Musicales de Mortagne et du Perche’, the festival takes place over three weekends at the end of June and beginning of July, and its 39th edition will be held from 21 June to 6 July 2025.
The vocation of the Musicales de Mortagne et du Perche remains unchanged: to re-enchant the vestiges of local and rural heritage (charming manor houses, churches, chapels and picturesque villages) in six exceptional musical encounters at the start of summer. Flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon, horn, sackbut, medieval trumpet… these are the wind instruments that will be the common thread running through Musicales 2025.
Each concert will feature one or more instruments from this family. The opening concert will feature France’s most famous wind quintet, the Ouranos ensemble. The closing concert will feature the Irini vocal ensemble, who delighted us last year with their Maria Nostra programme. This year, they will be performing in a much larger ensemble, accompanied by medieval wind instruments. In the other concerts, we’ll be enjoying the charms of the horn, clarinet, flute and oboe.
